Upload W-2 data file to District of Columbia

Registration is Required: You will need to have username and account with MyTaxDC.

• To Create a Username


• Click here to access MyTaxDC https://mytax.dc.gov/_/
• Click on the “Sign-Up for MyTax.DC.gov” under on the right side

Request Access: You will need to request access to bulk filing before you can upload files.

• Request Access to Bulk Filing


• Click here to access MyTaxDC https://mytax.dc.gov/_/
• Enter Username and Password and click on “login” on the right side
• Click on More...




• If the option to Submit W2/1099 is not lised under Bulk Filing you will need to request Access to Bulk Filing
• Under Bulk Processing click on Request Access to Bulk Filing




• Select the type ID number (PTIN or NACTP)
• Enter the ID number
• If you entered a PTIN you will be asked to enter an email address associated with the PTIN
• Select to request bulk filing for W2/1099
• Click Submit
• You will receive a message when Bulk Filing has been activated






• Enter and verify all 1099 data



• Enter the Submitter Information


• Click E-file Direct > Submitter Information
• Submitter information is person uploading the file
• Contact information is the Firm information preparing the 1099s



• Create the data file to upload


• Click E-file Direct > Create 1099/1098 Files > Create State 1099/1098 File and select DC - District of Columbia
• Select a submitter
• Upload file information is the name and location of the file being created. You will need this information during the upload process.
• Click the [Create File] button to create the upload file.



• Upload the data file


• Click here to access MyTaxDC https://mytax.dc.gov/_/
• Enter Username and Password and click on “login” on the right side
• Click on More...
• Under Bulk Processing click on Submit W2/1099




• Click to select Upload Bulk Submissions under Filing Option
• Verify the Contact Innformation
• Click Next





• Click on Add Attachment




• Select 1099 Bulk File Upload from the drop down list
• Enter a Description
• Click the [Browse...] button to browse and locate the file created with the W2/1099 Filer




• 1. Select file location - By default the files created will be in C:\TAS\23W21099\Efile\CompanyName\DC
• 2. Select the file
• 3. Click [Open] button to close the window




• Click OK on the Select File to Attach window
• Click Next on the W2/1099 Bulk Upload window
• Review the summary page and Click Next.
• Print or save the Confirmation screen
