Upload 1099 data file to Massachusetts
Registration is required You will need to have username and account with MassTaxConnect.
- To Create a Username
- Click here to access the Mass Tax Connect https://mtc.dor.state.ma.us/mtc/_/
- Click on the “Sign Up” on the right under the Login button
- Select the type of Registration
- Enter and verify all 1099 data
- Enter the Submitter Information
- Click E-file Direct > Submitter Information
- Submitter information is person uploading the file
- Contact information is the Firm information preparing the 1099s
- The Submitter’s Employer Identification Number should match the EIN used to log in to MassTaxConnect.
- Create the data file to upload
- Click E-file Direct > Create 1099/1098 Files > Create State 1099/1098 File and select Massachusetts
- Select a submitter
- Select the 1099 and forms to include
- Upload file information is the name and location of the file being created. You will need this information during the upload process.
- Click the [Create File] button to create the upload file.
- Upload the data file
- log on to the Mass Tax Connect https://mtc.dor.state.ma.us/mtc/_/
- Enter Username and Password and Click the [Login] button.
- You may be asked to fill in a Security Code
- Click on More
- Scroll down and Click Submit a Bulk File under Submit Files
- On the Submit Files page click on Bulk 1099 File
- On the Form 1099 Reporting page click on [Add Attachment]
- Enter a description and click [Browse...]
- 1. Select file location - By default the files created will be in C:\TAS\23W21099\Efile\CompanyName\MA
- 2. Select the file
- 3. Click [Open] button to close the window and return to the previous page
- On the Form 1099 Reporting page click [Next]
- Then click [Submit]
- You will receive a confirmation number indicating the file was successfully uploaded
- Verify data file upload
- Log on to the Mass Tax Connect https://mtc.dor.state.ma.us/mtc/_/
- Click on More
- Scroll down and click Search Submissions under Submissions
