Upload 1099 data file to Mississippi

Registration is required You will need to have username and account with Mississippi Taxpayer Access Point (TAP).

• To Create a Username


• Click here to access the Missisippi TAP https://tap.dor.ms.gov/_/
• Click on Sign Up on the left under log in
• Click Sign Up For Online Access for existing business taxpayers that need to add online access to an existing account
• Click Register a New Taxpayer to set up new business and to create a tax account
• Payroll providers and accounting firms can use Register a New Taxpayer to register for online access but do not need to open a tax account to file W-2s or 1099s online.








• Enter and verify all 1099 data



• Enter the Submitter Information


• Click E-file Direct > Submitter Information
• Submitter information is person uploading the file
• Contact information is the Firm information preparing the 1099s



• Create the data file to upload


• Click E-file Direct > Create 1099/1098 Files > Create State 1099/1098 File and select Mississippi
• Select a submitter
• Select the 1099 and forms to include
• Upload file information is the name and location of the file being created. You will need this information during the upload process.
• Click the [Create File] button to create the upload file.



• Upload the data file

• Enter a Username and Password and click the [Log in] button.
• Click More Actions





• Under Returns & Payments click on Submit 1099 returns





• Select 1099 as the Submission Type and click [Next]





• Select Atach File as the Submission Method and click [Next]





• Click [Attach a 1099 File]





• On the Select A File to Attach page, enter a desciption for the file being uploaded
• 1099 will be automatically selected as the file type
• Click the [Browse...] button to open the File Upload window





• Use the File Upload window to browse and locate the file created with the W2/1099 Filer
  • 1. Select file location - By default the files created will be in C:\TAS\23W21099\Efile\CompanyName\MS
  • 2. Select the file
  • 3. Click [Open] button to close the window
  
  
  
  
  
  • Click [OK] on the Select a file to attach page
  • If Mississippi finds errors with the file you will see a list of errors
  • If the file is good click the [Submit] button to submit the file to the Mississippi TAP
  • You must receive a Confirmation Number for the upload to be complete
