Upload 1099-R data file to Ohio
Registration is Required: You will need to have username and account with the Ohio Business Gateway.
- To Create a Username
- Click here to access the Ohio Business Gateway https://gateway.ohio.gov/
- Click on Log In on the right side
- Click Create Account
- Enter and verify all 1099-R data
- Enter the Submitter Information
- Click E-file Direct > Submitter Information
- Submitter information is person uploading the file
- Contact information is the Firm information preparing the 1099s
- Create the data file to upload
- Click E-file Direct > Create 1099/1098 Files > Create State 1099/1098 File and select Ohio
- Select a submitter
- Upload file information is the name and location of the file being created. You will need this information during the upload process.
- Click the [Create File] button to create the upload file.
- Upload the data file
- Click here to access the Ohio Business Gateway https://gateway.ohio.gov/
- Click on Log In on the right side
- Enter your Ohio ID and Password and click Log In
- First Time Users will need request access to upload a 1099-R File
- Select the ‘Administration’ button in the top, right-hand corner of your screen.
- Select the ‘Access Requests’ tab.
- Scroll to the ‘Service Area Access Requests’ at the bottom of the page.
- Select the ‘Employer Withholding’ service area to move it from the ‘Business filing service areas’ column on the left to the ‘Filing service areas access requests status’ column on the right.
- A clock icon will be displayed next to the ‘Employer Withholding’ service area indicating that the access request is waiting for approval.
- Scroll back to the top of the page and select the ‘Account Access Management’ icon on the top, right-hand corner of your screen.
- A notification icon will be displayed on the ‘Service Area Access Management’ tab indicating the number of service area access requests present on your account. Select the tab to view the requests.
- Under the ‘Requested Service Area Access’ section, your request will be displayed along with any other active requests.
- Select the checkmark button in the ‘Actions’ column to approve your Employer Withholding access request.
- Select ‘confirm’ when prompted.
- Now that the service area is active, permissions must be enabled for the transaction type. Scroll to the top of the page and select the ‘User Authorization’ tab.
- Permission sets for each transaction type and user will be displayed. Grant yourself permissions to the ‘W-2 Upload/1099’ transaction by selecting the appropriate toggles.
- Select the ‘Save’ button.
- Finally, select the home icon or the Ohio Business Gateway logo to return to the Dashboard. The ‘W-2 /1099 Upload’ transaction will now be displayed and available for use.
- Select W-2 / 1099 Upload under the New transactions Tab
- Selct the Upload a New File button on the left side of the page
- Select 1099R as the Type of Income Statement from the drop down list
- Click the Browse button to browse and locate the file created with the W2/1099 Filer
- Click Submit
- When you are done subitting click the Back button to see a list of Pending File Uploads
- Select W-2 / 1099 File Upload History to view that status of prevoiusly submitted files
