Upload W-2 data file to Massachusetts

Registration is required You will need to have username and account with MassTaxConnect.

• To Create a Username


• Click here to access the Mass Tax Connect https://mtc.dor.state.ma.us/mtc/_/
• Click on the “Sign Up” on the right under the Login button
• Select the type of Registration



• Enter and verify all W2 data




• Enter the Submitter Information


• Click E-file Direct > Submitter Information
• Submitter information is person uploading the file
• Contact information is the Firm information preparing the W-2s



• Create the data file to upload


• Click E-file Direct > Create W-2 Files > Create State file and select Massachusetts
• Select a submitter
• Upload file information is the name and location of the file being created. You will need this information during the upload process.
• Click the [Create File] button to create the upload file.



• Upload the data file


• log on to the Mass Tax Connect https://mtc.dor.state.ma.us/mtc/_/
• Enter Username and Password and Click the [Login] button.
• You may be asked to fill in a Security Code
• Click on More




• Scroll down and Click Submit a Bulk File under Submit Files




• On the Submit Files page click on Bulk W-2 File




• On the W-2 Reporting page click on [Add Attachment]




• Enter a description and click [Browse...]




• 1. Select file location - By default the files created will be in C:\TAS\23W21099\Efile\CompanyName\MA
• 2. Select the file
• 3. Click [Open] button to close the window and return to the previous page




• On the W-2 Reporting page click [Next]
• Then click [Submit]




• You will receive a confirmation number indicating the file was successfully uploaded







• Verify data file upload


• Log on to the Mass Tax Connect https://mtc.dor.state.ma.us/mtc/_/
• Click on More
• Scroll down and click Search Submissions under Submissions
